Restore from IEA — Part of the YuNiKu PCS7 Engineering Toolkit

Turn IEA Files Back Into Structured PCS 7 Engineering Data

Restore existing IEA backups into a full YuNiKu Workspace — Projects, Folders, Process Tags, and their source templates, rebuilt and ready to inspect, edit, and continue working with.

Why restore matters

An IEA file holds the data. It isn't a workspace.

A PCS 7 IEA file carries real engineering information — Process Tags, connector values, the hierarchy they belong to — but by itself it's just an export. To inspect it, change it, or keep working on it, that data needs to live in a structured engineering environment again. Restore from IEA rebuilds exactly that: your Project and Folder hierarchy, your Process Tags with their original values and comments, and the Process Tag Type templates they're built from — all reconstructed from the IEA backups themselves.

How it works

From IEA files to a working Workspace

01 — Start empty

No projects, no templates yet

A fresh Workspace has an empty Library and no Projects. This is where a restore begins — with nothing but the IEA files you already have.

02 — Choose your IEA files

Point Restore at your IEA backups

Open Restore Workspace from IEA Files and choose the IEA files you want to bring back in — one file or many, straight from wherever they're backed up.

03 — Select as many as you need

Restore from a full set of IEA files at once

Restore isn't limited to a single file — select every IEA file that belongs to the project you're rebuilding, and YuNiKu processes them together.

04 — YuNiKu reads every file

Each IEA file is parsed and matched to its template

YuNiKu reviews each file in turn, resolving Process Tags back to their Process Tag Type templates as it goes — no manual mapping required.

05 — Your hierarchy, rebuilt

Projects and Folders reappear exactly as they were

The Workspace tree comes back structured — Project, Folders, and nested Folders — matching the engineering hierarchy the IEA files were exported from.

06 — Process Tags, with real data intact

Every tag comes back with its template and comments

Restored Process Tags keep their original comments and their link to the correct Process Tag Type template — the engineering context isn't lost in the round trip.

07 — The Library comes back too

Process Tag Type templates are restored alongside your data

Restore doesn't just recreate the tags — it rebuilds the Library of Process Tag Type templates those tags depend on, so the Workspace is immediately usable, not just readable.

Restored data works like any other Workspace

Once a Workspace is restored, it behaves like any Project you built from scratch — organize it further, add Process Tags from the Library, or regenerate IEA files with the IEA Generator. If you later update a Process Tag Type template, Compare & Migrate shows exactly what changed before anything is applied.
